Settlers dig up Palestinian grave near Sha-Nur, forcing family to relocate burial

A Palestinian family was forced to relocate the burial of an elderly relative after Israeli settlers dug up the grave near the settlement of Sha-Nur in the West Bank. The funeral had taken place earlier that day in a family cemetery plot, with prior approval from security forces.

According to the Israeli military, settlers arrived shortly after the burial and began exhuming the body, claiming the grave was too close to the settlement’s boundary. Soldiers were dispatched to the scene, confiscated digging tools, and remained to prevent further clashes. The military confirmed the settlers had removed the body before troops arrived.

Palestinian sources alleged that soldiers supported the settlers and ordered the family to move the body, while a military source denied this, stating the decision was made by the family. The body was ultimately reburied in a nearby village, and the military said the incident would be reviewed.
