Turkey's Aselsan used the Saha Expo 2026 defense exhibition in Istanbul to outline a strategy focused on autonomous systems, layered air defense and integrated strike networks. The company is positioning itself as both a domestic systems integrator and a growing global exporter, with an emphasis on networked, high-volume and cost-effective weapons tailored for modern attritional warfare.
In the maritime domain, Aselsan unveiled two autonomous strike concepts: the Tufan unmanned surface vessel and the Kılıç family of unmanned underwater vehicles. Designed for swarming operations and low observability, the systems are intended for mass production and can operate autonomously or via satellite link, carrying warheads capable of delivering torpedo-class effects.
The company also introduced new elements of Turkey's layered air defense architecture known as Steel Dome. These include a long-range radar electronic attack system and an upgraded electronic warfare platform aimed at disrupting enemy radars, aircraft communications and missile guidance systems.
Drawing lessons from recent conflicts, Aselsan said many of its new systems are built around commercially available components to enable rapid, large-scale production. The company aims to have the newly unveiled systems operational by 2027 and plans to increase exports to 40 percent of total revenue by 2030.
