At new party's first rally, Bennett vows to 'unite the nation' and enact constitution

Former prime minister Naftali Bennett launched his new joint party, Together, with a pledge to 'unite the nation' and enact a constitution rooted in the spirit of Israel’s Declaration of Independence. Addressing thousands in Tel Aviv, Bennett promised what he called the greatest social revolution since the state’s founding, centered on creating 'one nation, one constitution' and integrating the country’s separate school systems into a single national framework.

Bennett vowed to establish a state commission of inquiry into the failures surrounding the October 7, 2023 attack and to end military service exemptions for ultra Orthodox yeshiva students. He sharply criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition, accusing it of weakening the Israel Defense Forces and serving narrow political interests. Bennett said dissolving parliament early would be justified amid growing tensions within the governing coalition.

The new alliance between Bennett and Opposition Leader Yair Lapid is polling neck and neck with Netanyahu’s party ahead of elections due by October. Both leaders framed their partnership as a unity effort that transcends ideological differences, appealing to disillusioned voters and promising a government built on shared national values rather than political survival.
