Donald Trump accuses US media of 'giving Iran false hope', calls coverage 'virtual treason'

United States President Donald Trump has accused sections of the American media of 'virtual treason' for reporting that Iranian strikes caused significant damage to United States forces during the ongoing conflict. In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed such coverage was false and gave Iran 'false hope,' alleging that some outlets were aiding the enemy by portraying Tehran as militarily effective.

Trump insisted that Iran’s military capabilities had been destroyed by United States and Israeli operations, stating that its navy and air force were eliminated and its leadership removed. His comments followed reports, including one by The Washington Post citing satellite imagery, that said Iranian strikes had damaged hundreds of structures and pieces of equipment linked to United States military facilities in the region.

The remarks are part of a broader campaign by Trump and senior officials against media coverage of the war. According to a report by Cable News Network, Trump also pushed the Department of Justice to issue subpoenas to journalists in an effort to identify confidential sources, as scrutiny grows over the true scale and impact of the conflict.
