Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the United Arab Emirates to meet President Mohammed bin Zayed at the start of Operation Roaring Lion, according to the Prime Minister's Office. The meeting marks the first publicly announced encounter between the two leaders since the signing of the Abraham Accords in 2020, with Israeli officials describing it as a historic breakthrough in bilateral relations.
The visit took place amid broader coordination between Israel and the United Arab Emirates during the ongoing conflict. Israel's intelligence and security chiefs reportedly traveled to the Gulf state at various stages of the operation to coordinate war-related efforts.
Further signs of cooperation emerged as the United States ambassador to Israel said that Israel had provided Iron Dome batteries to help defend the United Arab Emirates from Iranian attacks. Additional reports indicated that the Gulf nation was involved in recent strikes on Iranian assets, including attacks on a refinery at Lavan Island earlier in April.
