Nine people, including several children, were killed in southern Lebanon after an Israeli strike destroyed a residential building. Rescuers recovered bodies from the rubble as grieving relatives gathered among the debris, where a damaged children's bicycle and a dust-covered purple teddy bear lay as stark reminders of the lives lost.
The Israeli military said it had targeted members of Hezbollah who were operating from the building for military purposes and posed what it described as an immediate threat. It did not provide further details but stated it was reviewing reports of harm to civilians.
Family members identified the victims as a woman in her 70s, two of her sons, one son's wife, four grandchildren and a two-year-old great-granddaughter. The strike underscores the continuing violence in southern Lebanon, where support for Hezbollah remains strong despite ongoing hostilities with Israel and the failure of ceasefire efforts to halt the conflict.
