Tens of thousands of people took part in the annual Jerusalem Day Flag March, celebrating what participants described as the liberation and unity of the city. Marchers filled the streets with Israeli flags, singing and dancing as they made their way through central Jerusalem and toward the Old City.
Some participants said the day was especially meaningful as a way to express national pride and pass on traditions to younger generations. Families attended together, emphasizing the importance of teaching children about Jerusalem’s history and significance.
Despite the festive atmosphere, tensions flared in the Old City, where clashes broke out and 13 people were detained. Security forces were deployed throughout the area to manage the large crowds and respond to disturbances.
