State-owned oil companies have raised the price of compressed natural gas by 2 rupees per kilogram following recent increases in petrol and diesel rates. In Delhi, the new price stands at 79.09 rupees per kilogram. The revision comes shortly after fuel retailers increased petrol and diesel prices by 3 rupees per litre across major cities.
Petrol in the national capital now costs 97.77 rupees per litre, while diesel is priced at 90.67 rupees per litre. Officials said the latest hike only partially offsets the sharp rise in global energy prices triggered by the conflict in West Asia, which has disrupted key trade routes including the Strait of Hormuz.
Global crude oil prices have surged in recent days amid concerns over supply disruptions. Despite the volatility, the central government has maintained that there is no fuel shortage in the country and no plans to introduce rationing, adding that steps have been taken to ensure stable supplies and increased domestic cooking gas production.
