President Donald Trump said that Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged not to supply military equipment to Iran and offered to help bring an end to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The comments came after a meeting in Beijing, where the two leaders discussed China’s relationship with Iran and rising regional tensions.
Trump said Xi also expressed support for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil shipments that is heavily used by China. According to Trump, Xi indicated that he would be willing to assist in brokering a resolution to the conflict if needed.
The president renewed his call for Iran to reach an agreement to prevent further escalation, urging its leaders to make a deal before the situation worsens.
