Five Israelis, including an active duty reservist in the Israel Defense Forces, were arrested on Friday night for allegedly vandalizing and damaging Palestinian vehicles in the West Bank. The incident took place near the village of Shukba and reportedly sparked violence between Israelis and Palestinians.
The reservist's weapon was confiscated and he was dismissed from reserve duty following the arrests. Military forces initially responded to the scene but called in the Border Police after being unable to calm the situation. The suspects were later taken to a police station in Modi'in Illit for questioning.
Police stated that both the Israel Police and the military condemn violence of any kind and will act decisively to arrest those involved and bring them to justice. In a separate incident the same day, police also opened an investigation into a video showing a person brutally beating an animal in the village of Attara, and are working to identify the suspect.
