Researchers analyzing 3,000 years of seismic history warn that powerful earthquakes in Israel occur more frequently than previously thought, making another major event inevitable. The study reviewed extensive historical records documenting damage and loss of life from earthquakes across the Levant region.

The research was conducted by scholars from the University of Haifa, the Geological Survey of Israel, and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
