Democratic speakers outnumbered Republican speakers by more than six to one at commencement ceremonies held by top ranked universities this year, according to a report by The College Fix. The review found that 86 percent of identified partisan speakers at leading institutions leaned Democratic.
The analysis examined main undergraduate commencement ceremonies and reviewed public statements and donation records to determine political leanings. Only speakers with clear affiliations were included, while others were categorized as not applicable.
Among the few Republican or right leaning speakers were Arthur Brooks at Vanderbilt University, Dario Gil at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Colt McCoy at the University of Texas at Austin, and Ambassador Mike Huckabee at Yeshiva University. Several Democratic governors, senators, former presidential appointees, entertainers, and authors delivered addresses at universities across the country.
The report also noted ongoing tensions surrounding conservative speakers on college campuses, with some events reportedly facing backlash or cancellations in recent months.
