Numerous gunshots were reported outside the White House on Saturday evening, prompting an immediate lockdown procedure. The North Lawn was cleared by the Secret Service as a precaution while the situation was assessed.
Media personnel at the scene were instructed to move quickly into the White House Press Briefing Room. According to the Secret Service, there were reports of shots fired near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest, and officials were working to verify details with officers on the ground.
Journalists on social media said they heard between 20 and 30 shots. The incident remains under investigation and further information is expected as authorities continue to respond.
