Iran will base its national football team in the Mexican border city of Tijuana during this year's World Cup after receiving approval from the International Federation of Association Football to move its training camp from Arizona. The decision was announced by football federation president Mehdi Taj, who said the new location would simplify travel and logistical arrangements.

Taj said the switch would help the team avoid visa complications, as players and staff had not yet received entry visas for the United States less than a month before the tournament. He added that the squad would be able to travel directly to Mexico on Iran Air flights and that Tijuana is only a short flight from Los Angeles, where Iran will play its opening matches.

Iran is scheduled to face New Zealand and Belgium in Los Angeles before playing Egypt in Seattle. The team had previously sought guarantees regarding visas, security, and the treatment of its delegation ahead of the tournament, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.
