President Donald Trump has reportedly demanded that several Arab and Muslim-majority countries without diplomatic ties to Israel move immediately to join the Abraham Accords and formalize peace agreements. The request was made during a conference call with leaders from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain. The call had originally focused on securing Sunni support for a potential agreement with Tehran aimed at ending the ongoing war.
During the discussion, regional leaders voiced strong backing for Trump’s diplomatic efforts regarding Iran. However, the tone shifted dramatically when Trump linked future security arrangements with Iran to diplomatic recognition of Israel. He made clear that once the military campaign concludes, he expects countries that have not yet normalized relations with Israel to open embassies and establish formal ties, with particular emphasis on a landmark agreement between Saudi Arabia and Israel.
According to senior officials, the unexpected demand stunned several participants, especially Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistan’s prime minister, leading to a moment of silence on the call. Trump reportedly attempted to ease the tension with humor but underscored his seriousness by announcing plans to involve Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and dispatch envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff to begin dedicated negotiations in the coming weeks.
