Mild weather will continue locally through the end of the week, with only minor temperature changes expected. Wednesday brings slight warming, especially in the mountains, under clear to partly cloudy skies. Thursday will turn a bit cooler in higher elevations, while Friday is expected to see little overall change.
At the same time, much of the Northern Hemisphere is facing extreme spring heat. Europe experienced intensifying heat at the start of the week, with several cities breaking historic May temperature records. Madrid reached 30 C, Paris climbed to 35 C, western France and the Toulouse area hit 40 C, and London set a new May record at 34.8 C.
The unusually early and intense heat wave is forecast to persist across Europe through the weekend, continuing a stretch of record-breaking temperatures across the region.
