US F-35 forced into emergency landing after hit by Iranian fire

A United States stealth fighter jet was struck by Iranian fire and forced to make an emergency landing at a United States air base, marking the first time an American aircraft has been hit by Iran since the war began. The pilot landed safely and was reported to be in stable condition as an investigation was launched. President Donald Trump said shortly after the incident that Iran's air defenses had been eliminated and claimed that no further fire was incoming.

The strike came amid escalating attacks across the region, including Iranian drone and missile assaults on oil facilities in Israel and Gulf states. Energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates was damaged, sending global oil prices sharply higher and rattling financial markets. Israeli officials acknowledged damage to parts of the northern electricity grid as fighting entered its nineteenth day.

The United States and Israel say they are expanding strikes deeper into Iranian territory, targeting military leaders, weapons facilities and energy sites, including areas near the Bushehr nuclear complex and in the Caspian Sea. The Pentagon is seeking two hundred billion dollars in additional war funding. Iran has warned of uncontrollable consequences following Israeli strikes on its major gas field, as casualties mount across Iran, Israel, Lebanon and among American forces.
