The United States military has rescued a second airman from a fighter jet that was shot down in Iran, according to two United States officials. The rescue followed an earlier operation that recovered the first crew member. President Donald Trump announced the operation, calling it one of the most daring search and rescue missions in the nation’s history and said the injured officer is now safe.

Iran had said its air defenses brought down the two-person fighter aircraft. The Pentagon did not immediately comment on the details of the latest rescue. Trump stated that both recoveries were carried out without any American fatalities or injuries beyond the rescued officer’s wounds.

The rescues come as Trump and Israel intensify pressure on Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy route that Iran has largely shut down. Trump warned that Iran faces imminent military consequences if it does not reach a deal to end the war, as the conflict continues to fuel an energy crisis and threaten the global economy.
