Israeli air strikes across Lebanon on Sunday killed at least 15 people and wounded dozens more, according to Lebanese officials. In Beirut's Jnah neighborhood, one strike killed at least five people and injured 52, while another attack on an apartment building in Ain Saadeh east of the capital left three dead and three wounded.
Among those killed in Ain Saadeh were Pierre Mouawad, an official with the Lebanese Forces party, and his wife, the state-run National News Agency reported. The Israeli military did not comment on the strikes, and the intended targets were not immediately clear.
Additional violence struck the southern town of Kfar Hatta, where seven people, including a four-year-old girl, were killed. The attacks on predominantly Christian areas have heightened sectarian tensions, with some residents expressing concern that Hezbollah members may be sheltering among displaced Shiite civilians, a situation critics say has drawn Lebanon deeper into conflict with Israel.
