Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon are drawing comparisons to the devastation of Gaza’s health system, as hospitals, ambulances and medical workers increasingly come under attack. Lebanese officials report dozens of health professionals killed and scores of strikes on emergency services since fighting with Hezbollah reignited in March. Several hospitals and clinics have been forced to close, deepening the strain on a health system already weakened by economic crisis.

Israel says Hezbollah operates from civilian areas and uses medical facilities for military purposes, making them legitimate targets under international law, though it has not publicly provided evidence. Human rights groups and medical workers warn that the pattern mirrors earlier attacks in Gaza, where hundreds of journalists and health workers were killed, according to the United Nations. Aid organizations working in Sidon describe overwhelming casualties, evacuation delays and severe shortages of staff and supplies.

Civilians fleeing bombardment say strikes often come without warning, hitting residential neighborhoods and leaving families searching for answers. More than one million people have been displaced in recent weeks, while frontline hospitals struggle to cope with rising casualties and limited resources. Medical workers fear the conflict could further cripple Lebanon’s fragile health infrastructure if attacks continue.
