Indonesian authorities have extradited alleged Scottish crime boss Steven Lyons to Spain after delays tied to an ongoing investigation. The 45 year old was flown from Bali to Amsterdam before being transferred to Spain, where he faces charges of drug trafficking and money laundering.
Lyons was arrested on March 28 at Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport after being flagged by an international police alert issued at Spain's request. He is accused of leading a transnational criminal network based in Scotland that controlled narcotics routes between Spain and the United Kingdom and laundered money through shell companies across Europe and the Middle East.
The arrest followed a joint investigation involving authorities from Indonesia, Spain and Scotland. Raids connected to the case led to multiple arrests in several countries, including Turkey, the Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates. Two companions who arrived in Bali with Lyons remain on the island but are not currently subject to arrest warrants.
Lyons has been wanted in Spain for about two years, following a killing in 2024. Media reports say he previously survived a shooting in Glasgow and that his brother was killed in a suspected gang related attack in southern Spain last year.
