Lebanese lawmakers have urged the government to take immediate action to disarm Hezbollah following one of the most intense waves of Israeli airstrikes on Beirut and other parts of the country. The coordinated strikes, which hit multiple areas without warning, have been described as a 'full-scale war against civilians' and mark a significant escalation in the conflict.
Lawmakers warned that Lebanon is facing a dangerous new phase, caught between what they called Israel's aggression and Hezbollah's indifference. They said the scale and timing of the attacks signal a shift in Israel's military strategy and a willingness to escalate further, leaving the country in shock and civilians bearing the brunt of the violence.
Officials stressed that the issue of Hezbollah's weapons can no longer be postponed, calling for all arms to be placed under state control. They cautioned that failure to act decisively could push Lebanon toward deeper instability as international pressure mounts and the humanitarian toll continues to rise.
