The device, plugged into a wall outlet with a clear view of the room, was later discovered to contain a hidden camera. The victim told police he began receiving messages that appeared to reference his private activities in real time, leading him to suspect he was being watched.
Authorities said the roommate eventually found a lens inside the charger after noticing a reflection. Evidence collected reportedly included photographs, text messages, a memory card and the disguised device.
