Figures from community groups and the government show thousands of reported antisemitic incidents, with Jewish people experiencing far higher levels of hate crime per head of population than other religious groups. Jewish professionals and students describe feeling unsafe at work and on campus, citing online abuse, social exclusion and the need for security at social events. In one extreme case, an Israeli music producer was kidnapped in Wales in what a judge said was an attack motivated by his Jewish heritage.

The rise in tensions has coincided with large protests over the war in Gaza, where some chants and placards have left many Jews feeling threatened, though protest organisers say they condemn antisemitism.
