A senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Member of Parliament, Sudhanshu Trivedi, criticised the West Bengal government over its handling of women's safety and crime cases. Speaking in Kolkata, he alleged that the state's conviction rate in crimes against women is significantly lower than the national average and questioned the overall law and order situation.
He referred to a recent incident at a medical college in Kolkata to underscore his concerns and accused the state administration of failing to ensure justice. Trivedi also objected to remarks attributed to the Chief Minister regarding women's safety and raised questions about the naming of the Trinamool Congress manifesto.
The comments intensify the ongoing political confrontation between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, as both parties prepare for crucial upcoming elections.
