President Mahmoud Abbas met King Abdullah of Jordan in Amman to discuss recent developments in the Gaza Strip and efforts to secure a lasting ceasefire. Talks focused on a peace plan proposed by United States President Donald Trump aimed at facilitating humanitarian aid, advancing reconstruction, and restoring stability in the territory.
Abbas said the objective remains achieving a two-state solution in line with international resolutions. He expressed appreciation for Jordan’s support for Palestinian rights, including the establishment of field hospitals and medical treatment for wounded residents from Gaza.
The Palestinian president reaffirmed the unity of the Palestinian territories, including the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, rejecting any attempts to separate them. He also highlighted ongoing political reforms, including recent local elections and plans for National Council elections in November, alongside efforts to draft a constitution.
