A West Midlands Jewish community leader has said the government has 'abandoned' Jewish people following a stabbing attack in Golders Green, London, which police are treating as terrorism. Two men were injured in the attack, and a suspect has been arrested. The terrorism threat level across the United Kingdom has since been raised to severe.

Simone Schehtman, representing the West Midlands Jewish Community council, said many community members feel fearful and are considering leaving the country. She described a growing sense of insecurity and questioned why stronger practical protections had not already been put in place.

The home secretary announced twenty five million pounds in additional funding to improve security for Jewish communities, while West Midlands Police said patrols have been increased at key locations. The prime minister condemned the attack, calling it a vile act of terrorism and acknowledging a series of recent incidents targeting Jewish people.
