Israeli police have arrested a 36-year-old man suspected of carrying out a racially motivated attack on a nun near David's Tomb outside Jerusalem's Old City. The assault, which was captured on video, showed the nun bruised and the alleged attacker wearing traditional fringed religious garments. Authorities said the suspect remains in custody.

The nun is a researcher at the French School of Biblical and Archaeological Research. The incident was described by school officials as an act of sectarian violence. Christian representatives said attacks and harassment against clergy and pilgrims have become a growing concern in recent years.

The Old City, sacred to Jews, Christians, and Muslims, has long been a focal point of religious and political tensions. Community leaders expressed frustration over what they see as inconsistent enforcement and weak deterrence in similar cases. Police stated they are committed to protecting all communities and holding those responsible for violence accountable.
