Hezbollah is reshaping drone warfare in Lebanon by deploying fiber optic guided drones that are resistant to electronic interference. These drones use ultra thin cables to maintain a direct connection between the operator and the aircraft, allowing precise control without the risk of signal jamming.
This wired system, already seen in the war in Ukraine, enables operators to strike Israeli armored vehicles with high accuracy, targeting vulnerable points such as engine compartments and hatches. The technology provides real time control with no signal delay, making the attacks both stealthy and difficult to counter.
Israeli military officials have acknowledged that they currently lack an effective response to these low cost but highly lethal weapons. As a result, fighting in southern Lebanon has evolved into a tense contest of adaptation, with each side racing to counter the other's technological advances.
