The Israeli Academy of Film and Television held its 2025 television awards ceremony at Expo Tel Aviv after postponing the event due to the war between Israel and Iran earlier this year. The ceremony, broadcast on the Kan public broadcaster, saw Kan lead with 27 awards, followed by Yes with 12 and Keshet with 6.
Noa Koler’s dark comedy Happy Place was the night’s biggest winner, earning 10 awards including Best Drama Series, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Actress for Koler. The documentary series Corinne Allal: Farewell Tour won six awards, while Bloody Murray secured five. The late actor Alon Abutbul was honored posthumously with two acting awards, and several winners paid tribute to late industry figures during emotional acceptance speeches.
The ceremony also featured pointed remarks about the state of Israeli society and the media. News anchor Lucy Aharish spoke about the responsibility of journalists in a democratic society, while investigative journalist Ilana Dayan, accepting an award for Uvda, emphasized the duty to expose difficult truths related to the October 7 attacks and the ongoing war. Both called for accountability, truth and solidarity amid what they described as a period of national trauma and division.
