Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Bahrain's national security advisor and Royal Guard commander, met in Manama with Vice Admiral Edward Ahlgren, the United Kingdom defense senior advisor to the Middle East and North Africa, to review the security partnership between their countries. The talks focused on strengthening coordination and enhancing military cooperation to support regional security and stability.
Sheikh Nasser highlighted the importance of deepening collaboration under the Comprehensive Security, Integration and Prosperity Agreement, which Bahrain signed with the United States in 2023 and which the United Kingdom joined in 2025. Bahrain News Agency reported that the discussions underscored a shared commitment to peace and collective security.
The meeting comes amid heightened regional tensions, as Bahrain has been among 10 countries targeted by Tehran with missiles and drones following attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel earlier this year. Bahrain, which hosts the United States Navy Fifth Fleet, has not taken part in direct operations against Iran but has called for assurances that Tehran will not obtain nuclear weapons and for safeguards to protect navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
