President Donald Trump said three United States Navy destroyers passed through the Strait of Hormuz while coming under fire from Iranian forces. He stated that the ships were not damaged and that 'great damage was done to Iranian attackers,' claiming the opposing vessels and several small boats were completely destroyed.
In remarks to a television network reporter, Trump described recent American strikes as 'just a love tap' and insisted that a ceasefire is currently in effect. He reiterated on social media that the United States responded after Iranian seacraft fired on its naval vessels.
Trump warned that further military action would follow if Iran does not agree to terms in ongoing negotiations. He sharply criticized Iran’s leadership and vowed that the United States would respond with greater force if a deal is not reached quickly.
