Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has urged citizens to follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to use petrol, diesel and cooking gas with restraint, warning that India could face fuel shortages if consumption is not controlled. He said global oil and gas supplies have been disrupted due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
Fadnavis noted that many countries are already experiencing severe shortages and sharp price increases. Although India continues to receive oil and gas supplies, he cautioned that careless usage could lead to similar difficulties at home.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently called on citizens to reduce fuel consumption to help save foreign exchange and limit the economic impact of the war. The appeal comes amid disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy route, which has further strained international fuel markets.
