A ship that Ukraine alleges is carrying grain stolen by Russia is now waiting for permission to dock at a Turkish port after failing to unload its cargo in Israel. The vessel, named Panormitis, arrived at the Turkish port of Iskenderun on May 13, according to reports.
Ukraine’s ambassador to Israel, Yevhen Korniychuk, said Israeli importer Zenziper refused the shipment in April following a public dispute between the two countries. He expressed hope that Turkey would also decline to accept the cargo.
Korniychuk said Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry and prosecutor general are working to persuade Turkish authorities to reject the shipment, as Kyiv continues efforts to prevent what it says is the distribution of grain taken from Ukrainian territory by Russia.
