Arab-majority party Hadash elected former lawmaker Youssef Atauna to the fourth slot and Nihaya Wishahy to the fifth slot on its electoral slate during internal primaries. Atauna, a Bedouin politician from the Negev, previously served in parliament from 2017 to 2025 before stepping down under a rotation agreement between Hadash and Ta'al following the 2022 elections.
Atauna defeated former Arraba mayor Omar Wahad Nasser and activist and journalist Nadra Saadi Abu Dabi for the position. His return, alongside the earlier election of former lawmaker Yousef Jabareen to lead the party, signals an effort by Hadash to expand its appeal beyond its traditional base and compete with Mansour Abbas's United Arab List for support among Bedouin voters in the Negev and Arab voters in the Triangle region.
Wishahy secured the fifth slot after all other candidates withdrew, becoming the only woman elected to the party's slate. Her placement marks the first time in more than a decade that no women will hold one of the party's top positions.
