Explosions were heard on Iran's Qeshm island as authorities worked to neutralize unexploded enemy ammunition, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency citing a local official. The blasts were reportedly linked to the disposal process rather than a new attack.
Earlier, the Mehr news agency had reported hearing explosions but said the cause was unknown at the time.
The developments come amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States. President Donald Trump said he had paused a planned resumption of attacks on Iran after Tehran submitted a new peace proposal, adding that there was now a 'very good chance' of reaching an agreement to limit Iran's nuclear program.
