United States President Donald Trump said Washington will retrieve Iran's stockpile of highly enriched uranium and prevent Tehran from keeping the near-weapons-grade material. Speaking at the White House, Trump stated that the United States would likely destroy the uranium once it is recovered, emphasizing that Iran will not be allowed to retain it.

Iran is believed to possess about 900 pounds of highly enriched uranium, which Trump has previously said was buried during airstrikes carried out by the United States and Israel nearly a year ago. Two senior Iranian sources said the country's Supreme Leader has ordered that the material must not be sent abroad.

The dispute comes as Iran reviews a new American proposal aimed at ending the nearly three-month conflict, which has increased global fuel prices and heightened regional tensions. Trump said he is willing to wait a few days for Tehran's response, while Pakistani mediation efforts continue in an attempt to advance negotiations.

The fate of the uranium stockpile remains one of the most sensitive issues in the talks, with Washington insisting it cannot remain in Iranian hands and Tehran rejecting demands to relinquish it as part of any broader peace agreement.
