Four members of Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex have completed a five-day challenge walking the equivalent of five marathons to raise funds for the lifesaving service. The team set off from the charity’s Kent base and finished in Redhill, Surrey, covering 131 miles through towns including Maidstone, Brighton and Dorking.
More than £15,000 was raised during the challenge, funds that will support the charity’s emergency response work across Kent, Surrey and Sussex. The service has previously highlighted financial pressures linked to rising aviation fuel costs amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Warren Porritt, who joined the charity after it saved his life in a motorcycle crash ten years ago, said the experience was both exhausting and deeply meaningful. Alongside Sophy Dunn, Helene Poursain and Dr Duncan Bootland, he described the journey as tough but inspiring, with strong support from friends, family and colleagues at the finish line.
