Anti-Indian rhetoric has intensified in parts of the United States, particularly in cities such as Frisco and Plano in Texas, where far-right speakers have targeted Indian and Indian-American communities during city council meetings. In a recent meeting, Florida Senate candidate Jake Lang delivered an inflammatory speech alleging that Hindus and Muslims were attempting to 'take over Texas' and criticized Indian culture while calling America a Christian country.
Lang, who previously participated in the January 6 Capitol riot and later received a presidential pardon, was escorted out after exceeding his speaking time. He has a history of extremist remarks targeting religious minorities and has staged protests in several cities across the country.
Indian singer Chinmayi Sripada condemned Lang’s comments on social media, highlighting his past involvement in the Capitol violence and criticizing his remarks about India and its people. Her response drew widespread support online, with many users calling out racism and defending Indian culture while criticizing far-right extremism.
