In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that the material would be brought to the United States for destruction or eliminated in place or at another approved site with oversight from the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Trump did not clarify whether his demand applies only to the roughly 440 kilograms of highly enriched uranium currently in Iran’s possession or to the country’s entire enriched uranium stockpile. United States officials have reportedly indicated that any agreement would require the removal of all enriched uranium.
Iranian officials have said they will not engage in discussions about their nuclear program until a proposed 60 day ceasefire tied to the broader negotiations takes effect.
