US President Donald Trump's proposed 'Peace Council' for Gaza is reportedly struggling amid severe funding shortfalls, according to a Reuters report. Although rebuilding Gaza is estimated to cost around $70 billion, only a fraction of the pledged contributions has been delivered. Of ten countries that committed funds, just three — the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, and the United States — have provided financial support, totaling less than $1 billion of an anticipated $17 billion budget.
A source close to the initiative said the recent war with Iran has worsened existing financial challenges, preventing the committee from entering Gaza. Despite these reports, the Council has denied that it is facing funding problems.
The Council, chaired by Trump and including senior international political figures, oversees reconstruction planning through several committees. Efforts include forming a Palestinian technocratic government, establishing an international stabilization force, and advancing a plan to disarm Hamas in exchange for amnesty and the dismantling of its military infrastructure.
