Police locate explosives at home of Long Island teen who drew swastika in school

Police in Nassau County, New York, discovered explosive materials at the home of a 15-year-old student who had drawn a swastika in a bathroom at Syosset High School.

Officers investigating the antisemitic graffiti went to the teen’s residence, where they found chemicals that had been combined to create explosive materials. Authorities evacuated the home and nearby houses while the fire marshal, bomb squad, and hazardous materials teams secured and removed the substances.

Investigators determined that the teen’s father, Francisco Sanles, 48, had purchased the chemicals. Both the teen and his father were arrested and charged with multiple offenses related to weapons possession and other crimes.
