China has rejected intelligence claims from the United States that it is preparing to supply weapons to Iran, calling the allegations 'baseless smears.' Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said Beijing follows strict export control laws and adheres to its international obligations.
The response follows reports suggesting possible shipments of air defence systems to Iran during a fragile regional ceasefire. Officials in the United States believe Iran may be using the pause in fighting to rebuild its military capabilities with foreign assistance.
The dispute has intensified tensions between China and the United States under President Donald Trump, adding to broader concerns about a potential escalation in the Middle East.
