London synagogue targeted in another attempted arson attack; Sadiq Khan vows strict action

An attempted arson attack targeted the Kenton United Synagogue in north-west London on Saturday night, causing minor smoke damage to an internal room but no injuries. Emergency services, including forensic teams and fire investigation units, responded to the scene, and a strong police presence remains in the area.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan condemned the incident and pledged that those responsible would face the full force of the law, stressing that antisemitism has no place in the city. Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis described the attack as cowardly and warned of a sustained campaign of violence and intimidation against Jewish communities.

The incident is part of a wider series of suspected antisemitic attacks across north-west London. Recent cases include attempted arson at a building in Hendon linked to a Jewish charity, petrol-filled bottles thrown at a synagogue in Finchley, and a major arson attack in Golders Green that destroyed ambulances belonging to a Jewish volunteer emergency service and damaged nearby homes.
