Federal authorities arrested a 44-year-old Iranian woman at Los Angeles International Airport on charges that she brokered multimillion-dollar weapons deals on behalf of the Iranian government in violation of United States sanctions laws. Prosecutors allege she arranged the sale of Iranian-made drones, bombs, bomb fuses, and millions of rounds of ammunition to Sudan’s Ministry of Defense.

According to a criminal complaint, the accused negotiated contracts valued at more than 70 million dollars, including the transfer of armed drones and large quantities of ammunition. Investigators say she coordinated the transactions through overseas business entities and routed payments through multiple countries to evade sanctions enforcement.

Authorities further allege she maintained contact with individuals tied to Iran’s intelligence services and military organizations and acknowledged communication with an intelligence officer. She was arrested while preparing to board a flight to Turkey and is expected to appear in federal court. If convicted, she faces up to 20 years in prison.
