Former prime minister Naftali Bennett accidentally revealed the identity of a member of his personal security detail from the Israel Security Agency in a social media post, according to a report by Israel's public broadcaster. The post included the guard's name and photograph, information that the agency strictly prohibits from being published for security reasons.
The agency bars the release of its operatives' identities even after they have completed their assignments. Bennett was instructed to delete the post immediately, and his office later confirmed that it had been removed, calling the incident a 'mistake made in good faith.'
In its statement, Bennett's office said the post had shared a story about his meeting with one of the most prominent commanders to rise through the ranks of the Israel Defense Forces. The incident marks the second recent case of tension between Bennett and his security detail, following an earlier episode in which he shared his real-time location during a visit to the northern city of Nahariya, prompting security concerns.
