A man dressed as Adolf Hitler and standing on an Israeli flag caused outrage at the 130th Boston Marathon after he was seen giving a Nazi salute to runners. A video shared by a participant showed the man raising his arm in salute and saying 'happy 4/20,' referencing both the date of the race and Hitler's birthday.
The Boston Athletic Association condemned the act, calling it hateful and stating that the marathon is meant to unite athletes, volunteers, and spectators from around the world. The Anti-Defamation League New England also denounced the incident, saying the individual appeared to target people he believed to be Jewish or Israeli.
Israel’s consul to New England described the display as open Jew-hatred and said it was an attempt to intimidate Jewish runners. Community leaders emphasized that such antisemitic behavior has no place in Boston or at an event meant to celebrate resilience and unity.
