Residents of Holit have sharply criticized the findings of a military probe into the events of October 7, saying it failed to answer crucial questions about how forces operated during the attack. Community members said commanders heard gunfire and saw smoke but did not act in ways that could have prevented killings and abductions.

Although residents emphasized they do not personally blame the soldiers, they said the investigation was meant to identify failures, draw lessons, and rebuild trust. Instead, when the probe was presented in July 2025, it reopened deep wounds and left many feeling that the most pressing concerns were left unresolved.

Kibbutz members said the conclusions did not sufficiently explain how decisions were made in real time, how units in the area functioned, or whether earlier intervention could have changed the outcome. They are calling for a more thorough accounting to restore confidence between the community and the military.
