Sergeant Idan Fooks, 19, was laid to rest on Monday at the Military Cemetery in Petah Tikva after being killed in southern Lebanon. Family and friends gathered to pay their respects to the young soldier, who served in the 7th Armored Brigade's 77th Battalion.
Fooks was killed when a drone exploded near his unit during a clash with Hezbollah in the village of Al-Tayyiba. According to security sources, the soldiers were standing near a tank when the drone identified them and detonated, killing Fooks instantly and wounding six others, several of them seriously.
He was posthumously promoted from Corporal to Sergeant. Following the incident and what Israel described as a violation of the ceasefire, the Israel Defense Forces continued strikes on Hezbollah targets, with senior officials warning that restraint may end if attacks persist.
