The chief of the Israeli military said troops may remain in a buffer zone in southern Lebanon to ensure the safety of communities in northern Israel. He stated that forces are currently positioned along a line designed to prevent direct fire on Israeli towns and villages.
According to the military chief, the deployment has achieved its immediate objective of stopping attacks across the border. However, he emphasized that soldiers could be required to stay in place for an extended period.
He stressed that the military will not tolerate attacks on northern communities and will not withdraw until long-term security for residents is guaranteed.
